Aims of the service

  • To provide a semi independent support to individuals with a mental health diagnosis.
  • To provide a rehabilitation a recovery supported approach to independent living.

Who can apply for the service?

Anyone who:

  • has a recognised Mental Health diagnosis
  • is aged between 18 and 65
  • has a standard Care Programme Approach (CPA) support.
  • is eligible for state benefits
  • requires social rather than health based care
  • has a current risk assessment and management plan
  • is motivated to change and willing to engage with rehabilitation and recovery approach.

How to access the service

We are only able to accept referrals from a health or social care professional including those in probation, housing and the substance misuse fields. Their contact details can be provided on request. We regret that we are unable to accept self referrals.

 

What is the accommodation like?

Milverton House is a 4 bed, semi-independent supported lodge. It is situated within walking distance of Edale House, in close proximity to local amenities and is supported by staff from Edale House.

Each unit is fully furnished with the shared use of kitchen, bathrooms, toilets, showers, laundry and communal lounge.

 

How long will the support last?

Milverton House is funded to provide support to residents for up to 2 years though this figure is not definitive, and may be extended depending on a resident’s need and motivation.

 

How we will work with you

All staff are committed to working in an anti oppressive manner and work towards combating the prejudice and stigma surrounding mental illness.

Staff provide 3 hours daily support from 8am to 10pm Monday to Sunday with an on call an telephone support at all times. 

Please note: that we can accept referrals directly to Milverton House without the need to reside first at Edale if  all concerned fell that this is suitable.

 

What support will be offered?

  • Support with maintaining involvement with mental health support and services.
  • Help to find community resources and other support services in your area.
  • Assistance with claiming the right benefits and filling in forms.
  • Help with bills, dealing with debt and maximising your money.
  • Advice on tenancy issues and managing your home.
  • Support to find education, training employment and voluntary work.
  • Advice and information on health.
  • General life skills.
  • Assistance with resettlement and move on options when you are ready to move on.
