Aims of the service

  • To provide a 24 hour facility for individuals with a mental health diagnosis.
  • To provide a rehabilitation a recovery supported approach to independent living.

 

Who can apply for the service?

Anyone who:

  • has a recognised mental health diagnosis
  • is aged between 18 and 65
  • has an enhanced level of Care Programme Approach (CPA)
  • is eligible for state benefits
  • requires social rather than health based care.

You must also have a current risk assessment and management plan and be motivated to change and willing to engage with rehabilitation and recovery approach.

 

How to access the service

We are only able to accept referrals from a health or social care professional including those in probation, housing and the substance misuse fields. Their contact details can be provided on request.

We regret that we are unable to accept self referrals  or from community based services.

 

What is the accommodation like?

Edale House is a 10 bed unit for men and women aged 18 to 65. Each unit is fully furnished with the shared use of kitchen, bathrooms, toilets, showers, laundry and communal lounge.

Having such a small number of residents helps to ensure a friendly, homely atmosphere where residents are encouraged but never pressurised, to feel that they can be part of a lively but varied community. The project is set in a residential area close to all local amenities.

 

How long will the support last?

Edale House is funded to provide support to residents for up to 2 years though this figure is not definitive, and may be extended depending on a residents need and motivation.

Support

Each resident will be offered a 4–6 week assessment during which time an interim support plan will be developed. This will be done between the key worker and resident.
If successful the service user will seamlessly become a permanent resident with the project.

How we will work with you
During the initial assessment period new residents are given an induction into practical matter relating to the project. Staff will assess residents abilities in all aspects of daily living and develop a support plan to enable residents to achieve their goals.

All staff are committed to working in an anti oppressive manner and work towards combating the prejudice and stigma surrounding mental illness.

  • Support in maintaining mental health services.
  • Help to find community resources and other support services in your area.
  • Assistance with claiming the right benefits and filling in forms.
  • Help with bills, dealing with debt and maximising your money.
  • Advice on tenancy issues and managing your home.
  • Support to find education, training employment and voluntary work.
  • Advice and information on health and social skill.
  • General life skills.
  • Assistance with resettlement and move on options when you are ready to move on.
