Emergency accommodation for women

Supported housing for young women aged 16-25 who need somewhere to stay in an emergency

Aims of the service

  • to support women in an emergency situation
  • to provide support tailored to women’s individual needs
  • to prepare women for more independent living
  • to target women with additional support needs. EAW will accept women who use drugs or alcohol.

The accommodation

Emergency Accommodation for Women is for women aged 16-25 who need somewhere to stay in an emergency. It offers 12 bed spaces in fully furnished self-contained flats or rooms in a shared house. This includes a 2 bedroom fully wheelchair accessible flat.

Support

The project is staffed around the clock, with staff sleeping on site to provide overnight emergency cover, and an on-call system for additional back up.

How long will the support last?

EAW is a short term service. Women can receive support from the project for up to twelve weeks  (or for the duration of their stay).

A support plan will be drawn up by the Support Worker and the Service User within the first week of the Service User’s stay. Support includes  advice and help with planning move-on and resettlement.

Staff at EAW work with a range of agencies to ensure the Service User accesses the most appropriate move-on support and is prepared for independent living.

How we will work with you

Support sessions are offered with each resident having a named key worker, who will help them to develop a support plan to identify their goals and how they will work towards them. These will be reviewed regularly to make sure the right support is offered.

What support will be offered?

  • Help with accessing mental health support and services.
  • Help to find community resources and other support services in your area.
  • Assistance with claiming the right benefits and filling in forms.

  • Advice on tenancy issues and managing your home.
