Highlights from our recent performance monitoring

May 2009

• Haringey have invited MST to provide an older persons floating support service on a one year contract. The service commenced on the 31 May and 26 staff were transferred.
• The Research and Consultancy Unit successfully launched its latest research report Over Not Out at the House of Lords on 12 May. It explores the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) asylum seekers. Over 50 stakeholders attended, including UK Border Agency, Refugee Council, National Housing federation, British Red Cross Refuge Services and representatives from local authorities’ Equality and Diversity departments.
• All 13 Regulation 26 visits and 3 AQAA’s due this period were completed.
• All but 1 of 525 fire alarms checks were completed across MST, with Midlands / Yorkshire, including UKBA services, completing all there checks for the fourth consecutive period.
• The MST Service User Guide has been translated into the five languages most commonly needed by MST service users and is available. Audio CD versions of the guide in English have also been produced and arrived in offices in May.
• The “Have Your Say” menu of involvement leaflet has been translated into the four languages most commonly needed by MST service users and is available.
• “Improving verbal communication” training was held on 14 May, with eight service users from Nottingham and Derby regional service user groups attending, giving positive feedback.
• The MST Service User Strategy Group (SUSG) meeting was held on the 11 May. Recommendations were made in relation to manager’s attendance at SUSG and Resident Service User Group (RSUG) meetings, community investment KPIs, key KPI targets and the MST Comments, Complaints and Compliments policy.

 

March 2009

• Lambeth Primary Care Trust (PCT) confirm that MST will continue to be the support provider, following MST’s tender submission for Palace Road and Lambeth’s decision not to seek any further submissions.
• Following a successful fundraising submission to Foundations, MST can now fund a handyperson as part of the Care and Repair service.
• For the 9th consectutive month there were no deductions on UKBA invoice following 100% compliance.
• A service user member of the Refugee Support South Yorkshire Resident Service User Group (RSUG) has been agreed as an MST Sustainability Champion and will represent MST on the MHP Sustainability Group.
• 2750 MST Service User Guides were delivered on 1 April ‘09. An audio CD version of the Guide has been ordered and is due to arrive in offices in May ‘09. Translated versions of the Guide into 5 key service user languages have been ordered and are due to be completed in May 09.
• Information on service user communication needs has been collected across MST, to identify the information formats most commonly needed by our service users.

 

Welcoming new services…

New services won in the last year include:

• support for people with learning disabilities in Harrow, north London and in Nottingham
• support for older people in Nottingham
• an employment and integration service for refugees in the East Midlands
• extra care services for older people in Barnet and Enfield, north London and in Lambeth, south London
• mental health-related support for people in Lambeth, south London and in Haringey, north London
• support for refugees in London to learn English in their own homes
• support services for people in Wandsworth, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea in London.

Saying goodbye to others…

This year we have stopped providing the following:

• floating support services for refugees in Leicester and Nottingham
• mental health-related floating support services in Sutton.
