Green Routes make new rootsOn Saturday 11 December, Finsbury Park will be receiving a face lift in the form of new hedgerow fencing as part of a joint partnership managed by Metropolitan Support Trust (MST). It will replace the current fencing along Seven Sisters boundary of the park and local resident and volunteers will be working during the day to plant over 25 meters of hedgerow fencing.

The partnership is made up of MST’s Green Routes, Haringey Council, Transition Finsbury Park and Friends of Finsbury Park and is funded by the National Tree Council. Read on…

Over 60s help improve services in Haringey

Harry and support staff from 60+ enjoying a day out.jpgOlder people living in Haringey are being urged to make their views heard about how well local services meet their needs. A series of events are being held between Wednesday 1 and Friday 10 December at libraries across Haringey.

They will give older people in the borough chance to tell Haringey Council what services are important to them, as well as free entry into a draw to win £100 in shopping vouchers.

Our 60+ service that supports older people in Haringey to maintain their independence, wants to give local people the chance to play a role in creating improved and more personalised services for themselves and their community.

Include Xtra launches in Nottingham…

MST has launched a new drop-in service called Include Xtra for adults with learning disabilities including autism and aspergers syndrome in Nottingham.

The new service – which builds on MST’s successful floating support services,  Include – was launched at the Rushcliffe Civic Centre. Twenty service users attended the event, which included a buffet, craft activities and a raffle. In addition, they found out what the service offers, such as support to write letters, fill in forms, pay bills, manage harassment, access health services and handle tenancy concerns. Read on…

Hartington House rocks (dresses up, gets chased by a bird)!

Thrash it!

Musicians who receive temporary housing and support from Hartington House  an MST hostel in Derby  have been pursuing their musical ambitions by playing a number of live gigs in this year.

Bands Agent 57, The Quirks, Crucial Domination and Second Protocol, all include members who took part in the housing scheme’s Dimebag Music Project.

Their 2010 appearances include a recent set by Second Protocol featuring service users Chris on guitar and Linda on vocals, at a popular venue for upcoming bands – The Old Bell in Derby.
