Sheltered scheme celebrates being 20 years young

Passmore Edwards House, a sheltered scheme in Bounds Green, north London, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a event for residents and neighbours from the local community. Local MP Lynne Featherstone also attended and was joined by local councillors and Haringey Council officials.

Passmore Edwards House is home to 37 residents and offers various levels of support within sheltered accommodation. Since its opening the scheme has held a variety of initiatives and projects including an allotment project co-run with Bounds Green School, exercise classes and a programme of therapeutic singing sessions, working jointly with Bounds Green Group Practise.

For four residents, Kiymet Huseyin, Maureen Greene, Audrey Hagger and Rene Contze, the celebration held great significance as they have been residents since the scheme opened.

Lynne Featherstone, Liberal Democrat MP for area said: “Passmore Edwards House is such a warm and welcoming place, and I always have such fun when I come here, be it to check out the allotment, or sing with the residents. So it feels very special to be celebrating with such a lovely crowd here today, especially with Kiymet, Maureen, Audrey and Rene who have been here from day one!”

Marion Carden, Senior Sheltered Scheme Manager, said of the celebrations: “Passmore Edwards House is a home and a community hub. We are delighted to be celebrating 20-years of supporting residents and being involved with the local community. This is a very special occasion for all of us and we are pleased that so many friends and colleagues have been able to join us.
