“I’ve stopped taking drugs. I’m not partaking in or using anything.”
Yvonne

How did you come to be here?

I ended up being a vulnerable person through drugs and drink, which I’d been using for a few years. It affected my mental health.

I had a support worker who would come round. She could see I was getting worse and got in touch with my community psychiatric nurse.

What do you think about the support?

The services are really good, brilliant. The staff are great. Gosh, there’s loads of support: mental, physical, financial – in terms of budgeting – someone to talk to – it brings you out of your shell, grows your confidence.

We have one to one meetings. I have contact everyday with the staff. They always say if you have any problems, come to them from 9am – 9pm. There is always someone on call on the phone.

I’m so glad I’m here. It’s been a haven to me. If I hadn’t been here, I wouldn’t have been able to survive mentally or physically. I’ve stopped taking drugs. I’m not partaking in or using anything.

The staff are easy to approach. I used to live in the city. Here it’s nice and peaceful, like a sanctuary in a sense.

What’s for the future?

I hope to earn money, get a job. And I hope to get my own place. But I’ve got to get well enough mentally and physically first. I’ll be here for a while, then I’ll bid for somewhere on Homezone.
