I became homeless because of a family breakdown between me and my mum. I’ve been here about three years, the longest resident I think.
It’s been good here. It’s the most settled home I’ve had for ages. Some of the rules can be a bit much when you’ve been here a long time, but you understand why you need them. Occasionally you see people here who just want to mess around, but the office is good at acting when that happens.
I get on well with the staff, particularly Rachel. Rachel’s been here for two years and I can’t really fault her. Being here has helped, but all my support’s done really, so it’s easy. I’m looking forward to living on my own.
I’m working part time in a chippy, but I’m due to qualify as a hairdresser in three weeks’ time. That’s what I’m hoping to be.
I hope to move on soon, but I’ve been on the council waiting list for ages. I keep applying, but never get anything. Seems if I don’t have kids I won’t get a place.
Heidi’s just moved in, but we know each other because we went to the same school. So I’m helping her settle in. Meet Heidi
