Learning disabilities

There may be as many as 1.2 million people with a learning disability in the UK - British Institute of Learning Disabilities.

People with a learning disability find it harder than others to learn, understand and communicate. They are all individuals who have different wants and needs and with different stories to tell.

You can find out more about our approach to supporting people with learning disabilities below or by contacting your regional office.

Who we support

We currently support over 330 people with varying diagnosis of learning disability across the UK.

How we support

We offer a variety of floating support and housing-based options designed to develop living skills and enable community access for people living with learning disabilities.

Our services offer the following:

  • shared housing for those who would benefit from communal living and support to help them move to more independent accommodation
  • support to people with physical disabilities and dual diagnosis such as mental ill health
  • floating support services for people who live in their own homes
  • person-centred outcome based support through our in-house designed support database.

Getting involved

We encourage the people we support to take managed risk and involve themselves as much as possible in their local community. Many of our service users have taken part in our regional service user groups and volunteering programmes.

For more information on our services for people with learning disabilities, please contact the regional office.
