History

Metropolitan Support Trust is one of six organisations that make up Metropolitan Housing Partnership (MHP).

MHP has its origins in organisations that supported the development of new communities to Britain in the 1950s. For instance, Refugee Support services were set up at this time in response to the arrival of refugees from Hungary in 1956.

Key dates

1957. Refugee Housing Association (RHA) forms.
1963. Metropolitan Housing Partnership formally established (as Metropolitan Housing Trust).
1997. RHA joins MHP.
2002. StepForward is formed as MHP’s specialist care and support service provider.
2002. Threshold supported living services formed.
2007. RHA changes its name to Refugee Support.
2007. Walbrook support services join StepForward
2007. Threshold Support, StepForward and Refugee Support join forces to form Metropolitan Support Trust (MST).
2008. Threshold Support and StepForward change their name to Metropolitan Support Trust (MST). Refugee Support remains as MST’s specialist refugee, asylum seeker and new migrant support service.
