Extra care

Extra care allows elderly or disabled people to live independently for longer. A person receiving extra care could:

• receive support services in their own home
• move into a home with design features to enable self-care and independent living.

Someone recovering from an illness or operation may also receive extra care temporarily. Extra care housing can be particularly attractive to people who want to remain living with a partner or friend.
